Moose 106.3 ready for two day radiothon

Moose 106.3 is getting ready for its annual Radiothon this Thursday and Friday.

“It’s a two-day event that runs from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm,” Moose Middays with Jess host, Jess Wernick said. “Normally a radiothon is one person doing a 12 hour, 18 hour or 24 hour ‘thon’, but this is the three of us (morning host Mike Monaghan and drive host Steph Larouche) splitting up our day over the course of two days.”

All the proceeds of the two-day radiothon will benefit the North Bay Santa Fund. There are prizes to be won as well, as Wernick says they will be giving them out every hour.

“We do have a prize to give away every hour for the full 24-hour radiothon,” Wernick stated. “I don’t want to give away too much, but we have prizes from the Battalion, prizes from the Powassan Voodoos, prizes for tickets for events, and things you can take home a snuggle.”

She doesn’t want to give away specifics, but Wernick also has some fun things lined up for her shows on Thursday and Friday.

“I have a choir coming in from an elementary school coming in,” Wernick said. “There will be people bringing in instruments, local sports teams, local sports clubs as well. We’re going to have a whole day of Christmas music, fun Christmas stories and we want to bring you back and reminisce your Christmas memories.”

Steph adds his show will be packed full of Christmas fun as well.

“During my show, there will be plenty of Christmas music, some prizes to incentivize donations, listeners sharing childhood Christmas memories, a few surprises and local performer Marie Johnston of ‘Marie and Andre’ fame will perform live for us in the last hour of the Radiothon Friday between 5:00pm and 6:00pm.”

As for the radio station itself, it will be open for business as it tries to raise funds for the Santa Fund.

“We’re going to have our doors open, our phone lines open, for anyone that wants to drop in during the day and donate any amount of money,” Wernick continued. “It doesn’t matter if it is a dollar, 10 cents, or 200 dollars, any amount matters.”

Monetary donations will be accepted for the North Bay Santa Fund at the station at 118 Main Street East in North Bay from 6:00am-6:00pm Thursday, Dec 12 and Friday, Dec 13. The Santa Fund will be providing tax receipts for donations.
