North Bay’s building permit numbers continue to outpace last year. The city is at a construction value total of over 26-million, compared to 14-million at the same time in 2014. Single family dwellings have also increased to 12 compared to 7 over last year.
Mayor Al McDonald says it’s encouraging to see such strong numbers, and that it sets a great foundation for the rest of the year. McDonald says one of the reasons for the increase could be council’s decision to eliminate development charges for houses less than 12-hundred square feet. Housing starts typically happen in late April and early May.
