An OPP constable has been charged in a traffic collision that happened at the intersection of the Highway 11/17 bypass and Algonquin Avenue.

On November 22, there was a three-vehicle crash at the intersection, with one of the vehicles being an OPP cruiser.

An OPP officer and one other person were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Both have since been released.

Police say the OPP officer is being charged with failure to stop at a red light.

The charge, if convicted, comes with a $260 fine and three demerit points.

North Bay OPP did not release the name of the officer but did say that they are a provincial constable with approximately 26 years of service.
