A distracted driving campaign, including seatbelt enforcement, is now underway in North Bay and Callander. Distracted driving offenses can result in $280 fines and the fine for not buckling up is $240. Figures from the Ministry of Transportation show that a driver’s crash risk doubles if they take their eyes off the road for more than two seconds. Studies also show people who use a cell phone while driving are four times more likely to get into a crash compared to a driver who’s focused on the road. The campaign ends on Saturday.
