The Nipissing District Housing Corporation is now managing 22 rent-geared-to-income townhouse units at the south end of the city.
The transition of the Marshall Avenue East units from Niska Non-Profit Homes was formally approved two weeks ago.
The District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board (DNSSAB) says the move was made to reinforce the long-term sustainability of Niska Non-Profit Homes.
“DNSSAB remains dedicated to ensuring tenants have access to affordable, quality housing,” says Mark King, DNSSAB Board Chair. “This transition is part of the Board’s continued work to maintain stable housing options for individuals and families throughout the Nipissing District.”
Officials say with a wealth of experience managing properties across the area, the housing corporation will deliver effective housing services, maintain high standards for property maintenance, and support stable, quality housing options for current and future tenants.
“The Board made this decision to help keep housing secure for Niska tenants,” said Ethel LaValley, Niska Non-Profit Homes Board President. “This change means tenants can continue to count on safe, affordable housing, supported by a team that understands the community.”
The change in management to NDHC took effect Oct. 6.
