An attempted murder charge has been laid after an intimate partner violence investigation by city police.
Last Thursday (Oct. 16) the North Bay Police Service says officers responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the Worthington St. East area.
Police say the crash followed an altercation between the accused and the victim, during which the victim was allegedly struck by the vehicle and taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The service says the name of the accused will not be released in order to protect the identity of the victim.
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
“Incidents of intimate partner violence can be extremely volatile and can quickly escalate into dangerous, even life-threatening situations, as this incident demonstrates,” said Inspector McFarlane. “Our patrol officers and CIS investigators are committed to holding those responsible for such violence accountable and ensuring victims receive the protection and support they need.”
