Area snow depth is listed as normal for this time of the year.
However, the figures from the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA) came in just before Mother Nature dumped a fresh pile of snow on the area.
Angela Mills, Water Resources Specialist, says the combined average snow depth, recorded Dec. 1 in North Bay, Corbeil and Chisholm, is 12.5 cm.
“This is normal for early December,” she says.
Early Tuesday morning, Environment Canada was calling for about 15 cm of snow in the North Bay area, thanks to a snow squall off Georgian Bay extending into the region.
Another five cm is possible on Wednesday.
The conservation authority’s next snow survey will take place in two weeks.
Snow depth and water content are monitored as part of the conservation authority’s Flood Forecasting and Warning Program.
