Funding helps get the Bay Block Party started on expansion

The Capitol Centre is receiving provincial funding to expand the Bay Block Party.

The free, all-ages event is taking place downtown on Aug. 21-22.

MPP Vic Fedeli announced $20,000 from the live music stream of the Ontario Music Investment Fund.

“Our government recognizes the important role the music industry plays in fostering dynamic and thriving communities across Ontario,” says Fedeli. “This support will help the Capitol Centre continue to create more opportunities for emerging artists to showcase their talent, strengthening our local economy and drawing more visitors to Nipissing.”

The Capitol Centre welcomes the funding.

“With support from the Ontario Music Investment Fund, this year’s event will feature additional programming throughout the downtown on Friday evening, complementing the outstanding local talent showcased across two stages on Saturday,” says Katina Connolly, Executive Director of the Capitol Centre. “The festival continues to be free and open to all, and we look forward to welcoming the community for an unforgettable weekend of music and celebration.”

Performer submissions are still being accepted online until March 18 at noon.

Officials recently announced Juno-award winners The Strumbellas are Saturday’s headliner.
