Multiple weather alerts issued for the area

Two weather alerts have been issued by Environment Canada for the North Bay area.

First, an orange snow fall warning, currently blowing through.

The weather agency says snow and ice pellet accumulations can reach up to 20cm.

Officials say the snowfall will transition to freezing rain or ice pellets tonight, and travel on HWY 11 and 17 will be impacted.

As temperatures rise above the freezing mark for some areas tonight into early Monday morning, precipitation may change over to rain. That’s where the second warning comes into effect.

A rainfall warning has been issued from Temiskaming to the south to Manitoulin Island to the west.

Environment Canada says 25 to 50mm can be expected.
