If you’ve heard someone tell you how tired they are of winter, here’s one of the likely reasons.
There’s more snow on the ground compared to last year at this time.
Depending on the survey site, the latest measurements from the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA) show snow depth is 19.3 cm to 24.7 cm more this year than last.
Measurements are taken in North Bay, Corbeil, and Chisholm.
“Snow survey results show that average snow depth across all three stations is currently 52.7 cm with snow water equivalent measuring 156.7 mm”, says Angela Mills, NBMCA Water Resources Specialist.
In the past week, snow depth increased 3.6 cm, while snow water equivalence was up 9.3 mm.
NBMCA measures snow depth and water content as part of its Flood Forecasting and Warning Program.
