Firearm seized by city police

A 42-year-old city man is facing weapons and firearms-related charges after police responded to a service call in the 400 block of Dudley Avenue last Friday.

The North Bay Police Service says during the investigation, officers located and seized a prohibited firearm.

The accused was subsequently identified, located, and arrested without incident.

“Prohibited firearms pose a significant threat to both officer safety and the safety of our community,” says A/Deputy Chief Warner. “This investigation highlights the important work of our frontline officers. Their quick actions in locating the firearm and arresting the accused without incident helped prevent the potential for further harm and ensured this dangerous weapon was removed from our community.”

Police say the accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
