Child exploitation material charges filed against city man

A 51-year-old city man is facing charges after an investigation into child sexual abuse and exploitation material.

An arrest was made Oct. 14 after the city police Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit collaborated with the Brantford Police ICE unit as part of the investigation.

Charges include possession and possession for the purpose of distribution or sale of child sexual abuse and exploitation material.

“Crimes like these often reach beyond city and regional borders, making it important for police services to work together,” says Inspector Scott McFarlane. “Through the provincial strategy, we have access to the tools, resources and partnerships needed to investigate these offences and hold offenders accountable, no matter where they are located.”

The accused was remanded into custody, with a Nov. 18 court appearance.
