Recycling delays prompt temporary tire drop-off restrictions

The city says temporary restrictions are in place for tire drop-offs at the Merrick Landfill.

Officials say it’s due to province-wide delays in tire recycling.

“Small quantities of tires from residential users will continue to be accepted,” states a social media post. “However, large quantities of tires will not be accepted until further notice.”

The city says businesses, commercial operators, and anyone with large volumes of tires are asked to store them temporarily and arrange recycling pick-up directly through their tire recycling provider.
