Nipissing MPP and Finance Minister Vic Fedeli withdrew the comment and offered an apology after referring to NDP Deputy Leader Sara Singh as an “idiot,” Tuesday.
After responding to questions concerning the provincial government’s transparency on cannabis warehouses and the contracts which secured them, Fedeli became animated in saying to Singh the NDP does not “understand how business works.”
Fedeli added that no details of the Ontario Cannabis Store’s warehouse operations would be shared for security reasons, punctuating the statement with, “That’s how business works.”
As he took his seat, Fedeli can be heard saying “idiot,” while his legislature microphone was still turned on (this can be heard at 1:04 of the video).
In the media scrum following question period, Singh questioned the decorum of members Premier Doug Ford’s government, saying they often use personal insults in their dealings.
Fedeli is scheduled to deliver Ontario’s Fall Economic Statement on Thursday.
