Getting ready for orientation week at Nipissing University

The influx of post-secondary students begins this weekend in North Bay.

The Nipissing University Student Union (NUSU) says students will begin moving in on Saturday, Aug. 26 with Bachelor of Education students arriving a week later.

Several activities are planned for orientation week, including a muddy Olympics, an ‘amazing race’ around North Bay, a nature walk and more.

NUSU’s Shine Day, raising both funds and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis Canada is taking place on Sept. 2.

“Shine Day has evolved into an eagerly anticipated tradition during our annual orientation,” says Harikesh Panchal, NUSU’s VP Advocacy & Awareness. “Decked in neon apparel, we collaborate in teams, forging connections with remarkable community members, all while championing the Cystic Fibrosis fundraising endeavour.”

Hundreds of students will be washing vehicles at several different locations around the city. They include:
– coworking176.space (176 Lakeshore Drive) – Car Wash
– Kia North Bay (100 Eloy Road) – Car Wash
– Alan & Michelle’s No Frills (975 McKeown Avenue) – Grocery Bagging
– Hands TheFamilyHelpNetwork.ca (391 Oak Street East) – Car Wash
– Sleep Country (300 Lakeshore Drive) – Car Wash
– gd2go (375 Foran Street) – Car Wash
– OPSEU Regional Office (150 1st Avenue West) – Car Wash
