Fatal pedestrian-related crash in May results in no charges

The North Bay Police, with the help of an OPP investigator, have concluded their investigation into a fatal pedestrian-related collision in May.

Police say a 74-year-old woman and 80-year-old man from Témiscaming, Quebec were crossing Algonquin Avenue where there is no crosswalk and walked out in front of an SUV. They were both in serious life-threatening conditions at the time of collision, and later died of their injuries in hospital.

Police say investigators did not find any evidence that would lead them to suspect this collision occurred due to driver error, including speeding, distracted driving, or impaired driving. As a result, no charges were laid.
