Another NBPS civilian employee charged

A civilian employee with the North Bay Police Service has been charged with breach of trust in relation to an on-duty incident.

The OPP says it launched an investigation at the request of North Bay police in December of 2024. It led to a 54-year-old from North Bay being charged in late October.

The accused was released from custody and has a North Bay court date in February.

The investigation remains ongoing by the OPP North East Region crime units, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. Assistance is being provided by the OPP’s Digital Forensics Unit and Regional Support Team.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

City police Chief Daryl Longworth says he recognizes the news is disheartening on the heels of the charges announced last week. He says trust is fundamental to policing and it can be broken in a moment. He adds he’s committed to addressing allegations of member misconduct and taking appropriate action when concerns arise. The police service says an internal employment investigation will follow.
