New detachment commander for North Bay OPP

The North Bay OPP has a new detachment commander.

Andrew Kraemer was appointed in September when he was promoted to the rank of Inspector.

Officials say he brings more than 24 years of service with the OPP, having started his career in 2002 as a communications operator before becoming a uniform member and serving in frontline, investigative and leadership roles throughout the North East Region.

The Ontario Provincial Police says his experience includes assignments with the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, Almaguin Highlands Crime Unit, Provincial Communications Centre, and the North Bay Detachment.

Kraemer was raised in Callander and is a longtime East Ferris resident.

“Having grown up in this area and raised my family here, it is an honour to lead the dedicated members of the North Bay OPP Detachment and continue serving the communities I am proud to call home,” he says. “I look forward to supporting our members, strengthening partnerships, and working collaboratively to enhance community safety throughout the detachment area.”

Along with his operational and leadership experience, officials say Kraemer has served as an OPP Crisis Negotiator for 16 years, including five years as the North East Region Crisis Negotiation Coordinator.
